The unique combination of attributes offered by Mainspring’s Linear Generator enables a broad range of applications on both the customer and utility sides of the meter. When connected to the existing, underground natural gas grid, Mainspring’s products provide highly reliable, low-carbon electricity at lower cost than the electric grid. The ability to seamlessly switch between gaseous fuels, including renewable biogas and hydrogen, provides increased resiliency and additional carbon savings. High efficiency and full dispatchability — load-tracking, fast off/on, black start, and island capable — offers the most cost-effective solution for both firming renewable generation and ensuring 24/7 clean power.
Acorn / Elemental8 worked closely with Mainspring Energy to provide industrial design and mechanical engineering solutions for the generator’s enclosure. The design combines iconic and confident visual appearance with competent and efficient engineering thoughtfulness.
